The Gabo Foundation, with the support of the Google News Initiative, convenes the workshop ‘Navigate’ change: leadership and management of digital native media, directed by Gumersindo Lafuente.

Leading a native digital media means ‘navigating a sea’ of changes and uncertainties, which includes learning, failures, and, in many cases, loneliness.

From this context, this workshop focuses on the training and accompaniment of journalistic teams responsible for native digital media in Latin America, together with whom various themes and approaches that are revolutionizing the field of journalism will be explored.

Participants will be able to strengthen their capacities to design and implement strategies to face crises in the media, change course in difficult times and move on, identify possibilities for growth and consolidation in the market, as well as clarify challenges and opportunities for digital natives in the face of artificial intelligence.

Likewise, techniques related to precision journalism and information verification, Buenos Aires (Argentina, new ways of telling stories, and slow and experimental journalism will be addressed. All this is combined with a practical component of the workshop that will consist of visiting digital media newsrooms that have become benchmarks in their respective specialties, in order to learn first-hand how they are applying innovative approaches to tell stories and face current challenges. of digital journalism in dialogue with those responsible.

Teacher of the Gabo Foundation, journalist, and promoter of the Foundation for Cause for social research and journalism on migration. In 2007 he founded and directed soitu.es, the only Spanish outlet included in the permanent collection of the Washington Newseum. He has been section chief of El País Domingo and El País Semanal. He has a degree in Journalism from the Complutense University of Madrid.

The Gabo Foundation and the Google News Initiative this year bring a series of meetings associated with ‘Innovative leadership for digital native media’ within the framework of the RED ANTTENA program.

  • Must be interested in strengthening or fine-tuning their growth and consolidation strategies at the editorial level.
