University of Saskatchewan Graduate Scholarship Program 2021 in Canada

The University of Saskatchewan is accepting applications for its Graduate Scholarship Program 2021. USask is one of the top research-intensive, medical doctoral universities in Canada, and is home to world-leading research in areas of global importance, such as water and food security and infectious diseases. Study and discovery is enhanced by outstanding facilities, including the Canadian Light Source synchrotron, VIDO-InterVac, the Global Institute for Food Security, the Global Institute for Water Security and the Sylvia Fedoruk Canadian Centre for Nuclear Innovation.

Under this program, scholars would be able to focus on their research, explore Canada, experiencing International classrooms, and so on. In this Graduate Scholarship, students may assist their progress while studying their chosen courses and if they don’t find these courses interesting, they may change their courses.

Moreover, the program is offering a huge range of subjects. PhD students will get $20,000 for up to 36 months and Master’s students $16,000 for up to 24 months.

  • The College of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies (CGPS) offers University Graduate Scholarships to students in the following departments/units:
    • Anthropology
    • Art & Art History
    • Curriculum Studies
    • Education – cross-departmental PhD program
    • Indigenous Studies
    • Languages, Literatures, & Cultural Studies
    • Large Animal Clinical Sciences
    • Linguistics & Religious Studies
    • Marketing
    • Music
    • Philosophy
    • Small Animal Clinical Sciences
    • Veterinary Pathology
    • Women, Gender & Sexuality Studies
  • The student must be registered or continuing in a graduate degree program or have been recommended for admission to a graduate degree program in the College of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies at the University of Saskatchewan.
  • The student must have a minimum of 80% average as a continuing student or entrance average as a prospective student. When determining eligibility, only whole terms (not partial terms) are used to obtain a minimum of 60 credit units on which to compute the student’s GPA. Courses with grades of Pass, Credit, etc. are not included when computing the student’s GPA
  • Master’s students are eligible to hold up to a maximum of two years of university graduate scholarship in the first three years of their graduate program. Master’s students cannot hold a UGS beyond the 36th month of their graduate program.
  • PhD students are eligible to hold up to a maximum of three years of university graduate scholarship funding in the first four years of their program. PhD students cannot hold a UGS beyond the 48th month of their graduate program.

  • Complete the application given through the Apply now link. All information must be typed.
  • Include photocopies of official transcripts from all post-secondary institutions that you have attended.
  • You must arrange for two letters of reference from persons familiar with your academic work. The letters must be sealed and submitted directly by the department or referral to the College of Graduate & Postdoctoral Studies.
    • Letter of Reference are given substantial weight in assessment of research quality and productivity and of performance in classes. Professors that have had sufficient opportunity to assess your potential and who can provide a complete, detailed, and thoughtful analysis of your achievements and scholarly attributes are the most effective referrals.
    • Letters should support the information in your application, be enthusiastic, focus on your skills, past achievements, and potential. They should stress strengths and personal attributes, comment on the quality of publication venues, and demonstrate why you are of superior caliber and worthy of an award. Extremely brief or cryptic letters put the student at a disadvantage. Referees are strongly encouraged to read and follow Part 5: Instructions for Referees attached to the application form.
