University of Turku is an active international research university and a vibrant academic community of 25,000 students and employees from over 100 different countries.

As one of the leading universities in Finland, the University of Turku offers study and research opportunities in eight faculties. The University provides students with innovative problem-solving skills and high-standard, multidisciplinary education based on the most up-to-date research.

Thanks to the outstanding services, compact campus, and active academic community, international students and scholars feel at home from the very beginning of their stay.

The University of Turku supports merited and motivated students with generous scholarships. Scholarships are offered for both bachelor’s and master’s level studies, for students who are subject to tuition fees.

The Rector decided on the details of the scholarship program on 19 September 2016. According to this decision, the University’s scholarship committee has made a proposal to the Vice-Rector on the scholarships granted by the University in 2017–2019. During its term, the University’s scholarship committee has also discussed the development of the scholarship program. Based on the committee’s discussion and the discussion of the steering group of Academic and Student Affairs, the following changes and specifications, presented in more detail in Appendix 1, will be made to the current scholarship program.

According to Section 10 of the Universities Act, universities must collect a tuition fee of at least €1,500 from students accepted to other than Finnish and Swedish basic degree studies. The collection duty applies to students who started their studies on 1 August 2017 or after and are not citizens of EU/EEA countries, comparable to them, or their family members. In this context, the universities are also required to launch a scholarship program for these students.

The scholarships are awarded based on academic merits. Applying for a scholarship is simple: just indicate “yes” to the appropriate question on your online application form for the program.
