Calling all applicants for the Youth Co-creation for Health Programs and Research: Collection of Good Practices to Develop a SIHI/TDR Practical Guide!
The open call by the Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health (SESH) team and the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) seeks to gather experiences and insights on co-creation involving youth. The primary aim is to create a practical guide to promote safe, effective, and inclusive co-creation practices in health programs and research, particularly targeting youth aged 15 to 24.
Contributors are encouraged to share how they have organized co-creation events involving youth and the principles or tips they employed to ensure effective collaboration. Specifically, they are invited to elaborate on the creative approaches and systems put in place to enhance engagement, address power dynamics, and ensure the active participation of youth throughout the process.
This global initiative encourages institutions, individuals, and especially youth, to share their experiences. Contributions will inform a practical guide and highlight good practices in youth engagement and co-creation activities. Outstanding ideas will be recognized by the UNICEF/UNDP/World Bank/WHO Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR). Furthermore, four selected finalists will receive support to attend a 2025 in-person co-creation participatory workshop in Montreal, Canada.

The global crowdsourcing open call organized by the Social Entrepreneurship to Spur Health (SESH) team and the Social Innovation in Health Initiative (SIHI) welcomes submissions that capture experiences and lessons learned from past youth co-creation activities. Participants with no prior experience in co-creation are also invited to submit evidence-based ideas, provided they include appropriate references to support their proposals. However, the use of Artificial Intelligence to generate submissions is strongly discouraged.
Submissions must address the challenge question to be deemed eligible for consideration. After an initial eligibility screening by the organizing committee, entries that meet the criteria will undergo evaluation by at least three independent judges. The final decisions regarding selection will be made by the steering committee.
This initiative aims to collect practical insights and innovative approaches that can contribute to the development of a robust guide for youth-inclusive co-creation in health programs and research. Submissions are encouraged to emphasize creative and impactful methods, supported by concrete examples or evidence, to foster meaningful engagement and collaboration with youth.
