The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur has announced an open competition for a cooperative agreement to design, organize, and oversee the 2025 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Summit, subject to the availability of funds. The Summit, scheduled to take place over four days (excluding arrival and departure dates) in 2025, aims to bring together more than 150 YSEALI exchange program alumni from ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste.

The award recipient will be responsible for creating a youth-centered, dynamic, and engaging program. The Summit will offer participants opportunities to network, exchange ideas, and collaboratively address contemporary challenges. Conducted in English, the program will emphasize the four pillars of YSEALI: community service, entrepreneurship, civic engagement, and education.

The Summit will feature panels and presentations by former YSEALI participants who have made significant contributions as changemakers in their respective fields. Additionally, participants will engage in sessions focused on collaborative problem-solving for pressing regional issues, including environmental, social, political, and economic challenges. These sessions will incorporate innovative approaches such as presentations, case studies, and simulations to foster deeper understanding and strengthen relations among ASEAN countries and with the United States.
The program will also emphasize leadership development and soft skills training in areas such as advocacy, negotiation, and personal branding—critical competencies for effective leadership. Participants will engage in cultural activities and site visits aligned with the Summit’s overarching theme.
The event will include a mix of informational sessions, interactive discussions, challenges, breakout sessions, group presentations, and cultural exploration. The Summit is designed to inspire and empower the next generation of Southeast Asian leaders to become impactful contributors to their communities and beyond.

Eligibilities
To join the YSEALI Summit 2025, the participants must:
- Be a YSEALI alum (Professional/Academic Fellows, regional workshops, or Seeds for the Future winners).
- Be 18+ years old.
- Be a citizen and resident of an ASEAN country or Timor-Leste.
- Be fluent in English.
- Have a passport valid until at least November 30, 2025.
- Have at least 2 years of experience working or volunteering in one of the YSEALI themes such as Education, Economic Empowerment, Environment and Sustainable Development, and Civic Engagement.
