The Analyst Economist position, situated at the Bappenas Project Office Graha Jasindo, Menteng, Jakarta, operates within the framework of the UNDP Indonesia country office. Working closely with the National Project Coordinator, the incumbent will play a pivotal role in addressing the challenges associated with biodiversity finance in Indonesia. The role demands a comprehensive understanding of the socioeconomic, environmental, and biodiversity policy landscape, coupled with the ability to navigate complex financial solutions and coordinate efforts with various stakeholders.
The key responsibilities of the Analyst Economist include orchestrating and managing financial solutions to tackle the biodiversity finance deficit, integrating biodiversity into key economic activities in Indonesia, and advocating for sustainable budget allocation. This includes the formulation and coordination of BIOFIN project activities, along with comprehensive monitoring, reporting, and budgetary analysis to ensure effective resource utilization. Furthermore, the role requires active participation in the design of financing instruments, fostering dialogue with government bodies, and engaging in resource mobilization strategies to unlock multilateral and bilateral biodiversity finance.
The incumbent will be expected to stay updated on the policy developments within the country, contributing timely analysis and research in priority thematic areas. Additionally, the role involves fostering partnerships and collaboration with diverse stakeholders, including government, UN agencies, and non-governmental partners, to promote a gender-responsive and rights-based approach to climate and biodiversity finance governance. This will involve building synergies with national, local, and community-level programs, contributing to joint advocacy efforts, and facilitating knowledge-building and communication endeavors.

Eligibilities
- Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in economics/ development economics is required or
- A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree) in one of the above disciplines in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience will be given due consideration in lieu of the Master’s degree
- Up to 2 years (with a Master´s degree) or minimum 2 years (with a Bachelor´s degree) of relevant economic-focused work experience with government or private sector institutions.
- Prior work experience relevant to biodiversity finance and/or coordination with government, civil society, and other relevant stakeholders.
- Experience working in the area of development (national/international) would be an advantage.
- Experience with UN or international organizations; knowledge of UN/UNDP, and/or UN/UNDP procedures and approaches, would be an asset.
- Experience in socio-economic research and policy-level analysis.
- Experience working in the area of biodiversity/climate and/or SDGs and their financing frameworks, including experience in the area of innovative financing mechanisms, such as green bonds, blended finance, impact funds, etc.
- Experience in handling web-based data management systems and programs for statistical analysis of data.
- Experience in working with government counterparts, national or international financial institutions, and private sector/ civil society in the field of economic and social development in Indonesia.
Required Languages:
- Proficiency in English. Excellent command of written and spoken English.
