UNOPS has been present in Bangladesh since 2003. In 2014 UNOPS established formal representation as a response to the UNOPS Executive Board in order to provide more substantial support to the Government of Bangladesh and other clients in the different areas focusing to Resilient Infrastructure Approach, Program & Project Management, Fund Management, Procurement, Human Resources, Financial Management  emphasizing on building national capacities, improving resilience of communities with a view of contributing to the implementation of the SDGs.

UNOPS Bangladesh is hiring for the position of Partnerships Intern. Under the direct supervision of  the Partnerships Specialist the Intern will:

  • Conduct research and analysis for the identification of pertinent trends and business opportunities in furtherance of the Nepal business development strategy and its related implementation plan;
  • Support the development of concrete opportunities through market research and analysis, proposal development and support to project management and implementation;

Assist with the development and implementation of suitable communication tools.

  • Contract duration: 6 months (extension is subject to organizational requirements, availability of funds and satisfactory performance)
  • This internship is not designed to lead to a staff position with UNOPS. Therefore, there should be no expectation of employment at the end of the internship.
  • Interns may be eligible for a monthly stipend from UNOPS provided that they do not receive funds from other institutions. Interns are responsible for their own arrangements for accommodation, travel, and necessary visa arrangements.
  • For staff positions only, UNOPS reserves the right to appoint a candidate at a lower level than the advertised level of the post.

Reporting to the Partnerships Specialist, who provides general guidance, the Intern is responsible for the following: 

  • Business Development 
    • Assist in the update of the Business Strategy to enhance and grow the portfolio;
    • Scan partnerships development opportunities for business development intelligence (facilitate assessments of partner needs, UNOPS value proposition, etc.)
    • Collect and synthesize background information about potential partners and opportunities, develop partner- and opportunity profiles and update information in corresponding partnerships platforms;
    • Support analysis of corporate trends and guidelines regarding their relevance for partnerships development processes;
    • Help with the identification of potential partners;
    • Establish a subsequent plan of action and follow-up for potential business acquisition and partnership development opportunities in accordance with the strategy;
    • Generate content (information/images) for promotional activities,
    • Assist in drafting sections of proposals and concept notes,
    • Prepare draft presentations and supporting documents for partner meetings;
    • Support the organization of promotional events and high-level meetings;
    • Coordinate contacts with potential partners, arrange meeting schedules, prepare meeting minutes
    • Help is monitoring of partner meeting action points and pipeline engagements opportunities.
  • Research
    • Produce reports, surveys, charts/graphs, forecasts, statistics, focus groups, trend analyses, 
    • Collect and analyze data on trends, potential market impact and analysis;
  • Training components and learning elements: The incumbent will have access to project and portfolio documentation to learn about project management and development cooperation in the areas the portfolio covers. They have the opportunity to join official meetings and learn about UNOPS, and the UN, and multilateral cooperation. They will get exposure to key stakeholders, multi-partner donors, international non-governmental organizations and other representatives.
  • The incumbent will also have full access to UNOPS intranet, Google Currents/Communities of Practice (COPs) in Project Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Innovation and Research, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc.   
  • The incumbent will have access to the UNOPS Learning Zone and apply for training in Programme Management, Gender Mainstreaming, Coaching, and mandatory training as per UNOPS policy.

Eligibilities

  • Education:
    • Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or have recently completed (within 3 years prior to the application date of the internship) a Bachelor/Master’s/Ph.D. Degree in developmental studies, social science or related field.
    • Professional qualification proven to be equivalent to a university degree shall be considered.
    • Completion of an Advanced University Degree in the relevant areas is a strong asset.
    • At least one year of experience in the field of business development, communications, and partnerships in a reputable organization is preferred.
  • Experience:
    • At least one-year of experience in the field of business development, communications, and/or partnerships in a reputable organization is preferred.
    • Excellent English writing skill is an asset. 
    • Experience in the usage of computers and software packages (Google Suite/Workspace Office) and experience in handling web-based systems is desirable.
  • Language:
    • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of Bangla is preferred.
