With the help of the Insight Fellowship, outstanding people can advance their careers and personal development while studying and advocating for conflict resolution in non-profit organisations abroad. The first part of the year-long Fellowship is training and growth, followed by three global placements where the fellows exchange the best practises in conflict management theory and techniques. Working with communities impacted by some of the most violent conflicts in the world, the Insight Fellows group has made incalculable contributions to non-profits and the people they serve in nearly 40 countries.
The Fellowship encourages enterprising people who are passionate about conflict management to collaborate with organisations to improve their efficiency, whether that is through research, team training, or fortifying important connections in the industry. Upon completion of the year, fellows possess enhanced proficiency in managing conflicts, substantial practical experience, and heightened self-awareness, positioning them to effectively pursue their global citizenship objectives in both their personal and professional spheres.
The first three-month placement takes place at the headquarters of Insight Collaborative and Insight Partners, a sister organisation, in Concord, Massachusetts. Fellows receive extensive instruction and coaching in negotiation, mediation, and communication theory and techniques during this deployment. Fellows observe and support Insight Partners consultants, putting their education into practise. They also have access to Insight’s network of practitioners and scholars. During this time, fellows frequently volunteer to assist neighbourhood conflict resolution groups and pursue extra training—like language classes—that they might require for their postings.
Under the direction of Insight Collaborative, the Fellows plan and organise three overseas internships during their Concord term, which usually take up the remaining nine months. Every fellow chooses a broad issue to concentrate on for the duration of their fellowship, such as how to build trust or how to deal with conflict in the environment. Fellows deliver a presentation and send in a written paper to Insight Collaborative about their Fellowship experience within a month of returning from their final placement. Throughout their placements, each fellow is required to post diary entries to the Insight Collaborative blog.
It is the duty of each Fellow to do research and obtain their placements, which they may select in accordance with their individual interests. These assignments are anticipated to take place outside of their nation of origin. Based on safety, practicality, and how closely these assignments adhere to the Fellowship Principles, Insight Collaborative will offer assistance.

- The Fellowship includes a US $30,000 expense allowance for the entire year, provided by the generous donors.
Note: Each Fellow pledges to ‘refill the pot’ for the next fellow through fundraising and sponsorship by the end of the calendar year in which their Fellowship ends, primarily during their first placement in Concord.
Eligibilities
- A graduate of an accredited college or university or set to graduate prior to the start of the Fellowship.
- Committed to serving 12 consecutive months from the start of the Fellowship. – Dedicated to fulfilling the objectives of the Fellowship program, following the Fellowship Principles and willing to pledge to raise the funds required to ‘refill the pot’ for the next fellow.
- Fluent in English.
- Experience related to the study or practice of conflict management or alternative dispute resolution is preferred, but not essential.
