Future News Worldwide is a partnership programme between the British Council and some of the world’s leading media organisations. The aim is to support young people to develop a wide range of journalism skills and to establish the UK as a global leader in the nurturing of young journalists and media figures.

Each year they bring together 100 of the world’s most talented, motivated and passionate student journalists to attend an intensive media training programme. Participants receive exclusive coaching from world-leading editors, broadcasters, writers and reporters, and see how publishers around the world are using technology to find stories and bring them to life like never before.
Future News Worldwide 2021 will be hosted online on 14 (afternoon GMT) and 15 (morning GMT) July 2021. The conference programme will be repeated on both dates. This year’s conference theme is: ‘Climate, COVID-19 and the rise of disinformation: how journalism can best serve a world in crisis’.

Eligibilities
- Once you provide your information in the chatbox, the eligibility requirements will be shown.
- Passion for journalism.
- Have some prior knowledge about journalism.
Application Process

- Use the easy chatbot on the website to apply for the programme.
- Provide required contact information.
- Meeting the eligibility criteria at this initial stage will then take you to a full online application.
- Please ensure you enter your email address correctly.
- Once all questions are completed and all required criteria are met, the application will be sent link via the email to complete the next stage of the application where two questions needs to be answered. Applicants will be given the opportunity to upload their portfolio if they wish.
- It is not possible to save the applicant’s work whilst completing the questions in the form. Therefore recommend composing answers to the Application Questions offline, then pasting into the space provided is recommended.
- Once applications are submitted, applicants will receive a confirmation email to this address, which they should retain for future reference. If they do not receive a confirmation email, they need to check Junk and Spam folders before contacting the authorities.
- It is not possible to edit your application after submitting it.
