ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum are looking for the 40 most dynamic and motivated young leaders aged 18-29 from across ASEAN and Australia to represent their country at the 2023 ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum in Kuala Lumpur. They are looking for young leaders who have:
Innovative perspectives on enhancing sustainability and climate action in our region
Drive to strengthen ASEAN-Australia relations
Motivation to deepen knowledge of the cultures, challenges and opportunities facing ASEAN and Australia
Demonstrated leadership potential in their community
The ASEAN-Australia Young Leaders Forum (AAYLF) is a four-day in person intensive in Kuala Lumpur which aims to cultivate the next generation of leaders in ASEAN and Australia. This year’s AAYLF will uncover challenges and solutions to Future Cities 2050 in the ASEAN-Australia region. The Forum will enhance understanding of ASEAN-Australia relations, deepen the leadership acumen of influential youth, and build direct people-to-people connections between young leaders across our region.
Selected delegates will need to organise and cover costs of their flights/travel to the four-day Forum. Delegates are encouraged to seek sponsorship for this from their university / work if selected. The Forum fee is $150AUD which will only be applicable if selected, and goes towards accommodation, catering and activities. Delegates will need to fully participate in the Forum, arriving Thursday evening and departing Tuesday morning. The exact timing is shown below:
- Hotel check-in from 2pm Thursday 22 June
- Friday 23 June 2023, starting at 9am
- Saturday 24, Sunday 25 & Monday 26 June – full days
- Tuesday 27 June – depart anytime
- Hotel check-out by 10am Tuesday 27 June 2023
You will receive your delegate info pack which includes all the brilliant delegate bios and Forum programme.
Arrive between 2pm-11:30pm on Thursday 22 June.
The AAYLF will be a full four-day intensive from Friday to Monday. The Forum includes official Opening & Closing ceremonies, a cultural showcase night, site visits, panels and more!
Depart on Tuesday 27 June anytime.

- You will be required to book and pay for your own flights and travel insurance, your transport between the airport and the hotel, and breakfasts and dinners not covered in the program, and the $150AUD Forum participant fee.
Eligibilities
- Citizens and Permanent Residents of Australia or an ASEAN Member State.
- Delegates must be aged 18-29 years (inclusive) at the time of application.

- Share in 500 words your idea for our region’s Future Cities 2050. If selected as a delegate, your submission will be included in the AASYP Review 2023.
- Spell out your motivation for how the Forum will accelerate your professional path
