The U.S. Department of State invites to apply for the Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund 2024!
After participating in an exchange programme funded by the US government, are you prepared to use the knowledge and abilities you acquired to effect change? Do you have an amazing idea for a public service initiative but need money to make it happen?
If your response was “yes,” you have the opportunity to apply for and potentially win a $10,000 grant through the 2024 Citizen Diplomacy Action Fund for U.S. Alumni. Teams of two or more former exchange students from the United States government are eligible to apply for small grants to carry out policy-inspired community service projects domestically and abroad. These projects should advance U.S. policy objectives linked to one of the following five themes and improve the efficacy of exchange programmes run by the U.S. Department of State.
- Strengthening Democratic Institutions & Fighting Disinformation
- Protecting the Environment
- Building Community Through Arts, Sports, Language, and Technology
- Human Rights, Refugees, and Migrants
- Supporting Communities Impacted by Illicit Drugs
Alumni have a special chance to apply the knowledge and abilities they acquired during their exchange, network with other alumni, and develop their leadership potential in the community through CDAF. Projects that educate media literacy, strengthen community resilience, encourage the growth of alumni networks, and address topics like climate change and sustainable development have been produced by previous participants.
Activities should take place after Mid-May, 2024 and conclude prior to November 30, 2024. Funding cannot be used for any activities that began before May, 2024 or occur after November 30, 2024. Project start date is dependent on receiving the team’s signed grantee agreement.
To apply: The team leader who will be in charge of gaining access to the proposal form must be a U.S. citizen alumnus. Projects can be completed virtually, domestically in the US or its territories, or abroad. At least one team leader needs to have firsthand experience with international exchange in the community where the project is intended to take place if it is to be carried out abroad.
