Organized by the Inclusive Action Hub , led by Value for Women and supported by the Visa Foundation, the initiative seeks to identify and promote enterprises operating in low- or middle-income countries with fewer than 250 employees. By acknowledging businesses that prioritize gender-inclusive practices, the awards aim to inspire and drive meaningful change in economic participation and empowerment for women worldwide.

Eligible organisations must be medium-to-high-growth entities, either for-profit or non-profit, with fewer than 250 employees. They can operate at any stage of business development, from start-up to maturity, and must demonstrate a strong commitment to creating social impact. Additionally, organisations must be formally registered, legally recognised, and in good standing with the relevant authorities in their country of operation. A proven track record of gender-inclusive practices in policies, activities, and operations is also required. Furthermore, organisations must maintain integrity and adhere to ethical business practices.

Certain types of organisations are not eligible. These include public international organisations such as multilateral institutions, as well as government entities, including public offices, ministries, agencies, municipal bodies, parastatals, quasi-governmental organisations, and universities. Organisations engaged in or advocating for illegal activities, or those with a questionable reputation regarding gender equality, are also excluded. Faith-based organisations whose activities focus solely on religious purposes do not qualify. Additionally, organisations facing unresolved legal or ethical investigations, outstanding claims, or active exclusions due to compliance issues are ineligible.
