Scholarship at Nalanda University for BIMSTEC Countries 2019
The High Commission of India, Dhaka is pleased to announce that Government of India is offering scholarships to meritorious students from BIMSTEC (Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Myanmar and Thailand) countries for pursuing Master’s and Doctoral programmes at Nalanda University located at Rajgir, District Nalanda, Bihar, India.
The admissions to Master’s and Doctoral programmes are available in the following schools:
a) School of Historical Studies (SHS)
b) School of Ecology and Environment Studies (SEES)
c) School of Buddhist Studies, Philosophy and Comparative Religions (SBSPCR)
Benefits
- The scholarship covers one-time admission fee, tuition fee, hostel accommodation and contingency allowances;
- The students will be paid a stipend so as to cover meal and other expenditure.
Eligibilities
Master’s Programme:
Bachelors Degree with a minimum of 15 years of prior studies with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.2 or above on a 4 point scale or equivalent. The international applicants shall present the score of any one of the following English Language Tests / or proof of knowledge of English:-
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language);
IELTS (International English Language Testing System);
Any other standard English test used on the international platform or
Completed a full-time degree-level course entirely taught and assessed in English.
Doctoral Programme:
1. Applicant should have a Master’s degree with at least 65% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average (GPA), preferably with dissertation at Master’s level or M.Phil. Degree with 65% marks or equivalent Grade Point Average;
2. An applicant has to submit a letter of Self Introduction and 2 Letters of Recommendations/ References;
3. An applicant has to submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) indicating the reason for choosing Nalanda University;
4. An applicant has to submit a detailed Research Proposal;
5. An applicant has to submit evidence of any research such as writing samples or published papers (at least 2 to 3);
6. The international applicants shall present the score of any one of the following English Language Tests / or proof of knowledge of English:-
TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language);
IELTS (International English Language Testing System);
Any other standard English test used on the international platform or
Completed a full-time degree-level course entirely taught and assessed in English.

Master’s Programme Admission process:
International students have to visit the University website at www.nalandauniv.edu.in for downloading the application form. The duly filled application form and a Statement of Purpose (SOP) along with all the documents should be submitted to [email protected]. The candidate is required to pay an application fee of USD 8 (Eight US Dollars only or equivalent in Indian currency) towards the processing of the application form through RTGS/NEFT using the details given below:

Doctoral Programme Admission process:
The admission process for Doctoral programme is as same as with Master’s programme, but the applicant is required to submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) along with two recommendation letters, detailed research proposal and evidence of any previous research additionally for Doctoral programme.
