Call for Application Journalist Fellowship 2020 – To Stop Violence Against Women.
From 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women to 10 December, Human Rights Day, the 16 Days of Activism (DoA) against Gender-Based Violence Campaign is a time to galvanise action to end violence against women and girls around the world. The international campaign originated in 1991 from the first Women’s Global Leadership Institute coordinated by the Center for Women’s Global Leadership.
Ever since, the 16 Days of Activism Campaign has been used as a systematized strategy by individuals and groups around the world to eliminate all forms of violence against women by:
- Raising awareness about gender-based violence as a human rights issue at the local, national, regional and international levels;
- Strengthening local work all around the world to end violence against women;
- Establishing a clear link between local and international work to end violence against women;
- Providing a forum in which organizers can develop and share new and effective strategies;
- Demonstrating the solidarity of women around the world to end violence against women;
- Creating tools to pressure governments to implement promises made to eliminate violence against women.
From this belief, ActionAid Bangladesh observes the 16 Days of Activism in every year. This year ActionAid Bangladesh is going to observe the 16 Days campaign focusing on domestic violence against women.
