Women’s Voice and Leadership- Bangladesh is a project of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF) funded by Global Affairs Canada. MJF is pleased to request Proposals from Women’s Rights Organizations (WROs), Women Coalitions, Women Networks working to advance the empowerment of women and girls, promote gender equality and protect the human rights of women and girls. The project will directly reach WROs and networks in Bangladesh through multi- year funding.
MJF promotes human rights and good governance through advocacy, partnership and capacity building support to Non-government Organizations (NGOs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and other stakeholders. MJF assists in ensuring entitlements of people by building their capacity to demand basic services and raise voice against rights violation. MJF also works on the supply side with duty bearers to ensure their responsiveness towards the demands of people, especially poor and marginalized.
Women’s Voice and Leadership Bangladesh (WVLB) Project is part of global initiative of Global Affairs, Canada to support Canada’s new Feminist International Assistance Policy. This program has been launched to respond to the needs of local women’s organizations working to advance the empowerment of women and girls, promote gender equality, and protect the human rights of women and girls in approximately 30 developing countries and regions. The goal of the Women’s Voice and Leadership –Bangladesh project is to support the capacity and activities of local and regional WROs and movements seeking to empower women and girls, advance the protection of women’s and girl’s rights and achieve gender equality.
In Bangladesh, MJF has been awarded this project to address the constraints and challenges towards women’s empowerment. In doing so, WVLB project aims to assist WROs and movements in their efforts to address discrimination and rights violations in policy and legislation (including implementation) as well as in social beliefs and practices.

Eligibilities
- The Executive Director/Head must be a woman and all the members of governing board should be women.
- At least 50% of the staff must be women in organization.
- Applicants will be registered as NGO (by Women Affairs Department/District Social Service Office/NGO Affairs Bureau).
- Application will be based on supporting GE and the empowerment of women and girls according their organization mandate and program experience.
- Applicants will demonstrate experience appropriate with the size of grant. For example, micro and small grants will require at least 3 years’ experience and medium grants will require 5 years’ experience.
- Applications will be accepted from NGOs, those require organizational capacity development support and limited funding source/current donors of the organization available.
- Applicants will demonstrate basic level of financial management and technical capacity.
- Applicants will demonstrate willingness of collaborating with other WROs to advance GE and the empowerment of women and girls.
- Applications will be accepted from networks or formal/informal consortia of WROs, which may include women-led groups, community based women groups that are not registered, do not have the required years of experience and/or are less experience in terms of financial management and technical capacity. In all cases, however, a lead WRO who must meet all eligibility criteria will sign the agreement with MJF. This lead WRO will be accountable to MJF for funds management, program delivery and reporting.
- Applicants will represent national and local level WROs, networks and coalitions.
- Applicants will represent, and advance the rights and interests of, marginalized and vulnerable women and girls, such as women heads of households, survivors of SGBV, migrant workers, commercial sex workers, free trade zone workers, domestic workers, women and girls with disability, older women, indigenous women in plain land and CHT, lesbian, bisexual and transgender women etc.
