WorldFish is looking for Junior Research Assistant 2020 in Bangladesh.
The Junior Research Assistant will work under the guidance of the Divisional Administrator of the IDEA project. The post holder will also work closely with other Team Members of the IDEA project. S/He is responsible to work towards achieving the goals of the IDEA project, namely, Result #1: Increased productivity and diversity of fish production systems of the project and to engage with team members and partners to support Result #2 Increase stakeholder access to quality input and services, Result #3 Improved market linkages, Result #4 improved dietary diversity and consumption and Result #5 Women’s empowerment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the identification, selection, and social mobilization of the Local Service Providers (LSPs) in the relevant districts.
- Provide support to developed network and build strong linkages with LSPs to support the private sector particularly input dealers, input retailers, hatcheries, nurseries, and fish seed traders.
- Provide support to the divisional project team to conduct training of project partners, LSPs, and other participants at the field level.
- Provide mentoring support to the LSPs to form practice groups and to conduct training at the village level for farmers.
- Support the M&E team to prepare a digital database of the LSPs in the relevant districts.
- Collaborate with other Team members (Aquaculture, market, nutrition, gender, and MEL) on implementation of activities to achieve impacts on smallholder income, gender, and diets at scale.
- Participate to develop good relationships and proper liaison with DoF, the private sectors, and other partners at a local level.
- Complete other relevant tasks as required by WorldFish.

This is a Nationally Recruited Staff (NRS) position with an approximate annual salary ranging between BDT 464,836 – BDT 478,781 per annum. WorldFish NRS shall receive comprehensive benefits including (but not limited to) insurance coverage for staff and eligible dependents, and pension / provident fund contribution.
Eligibilities
This job is open to Bangladesh Nationals with the following skills and qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Aquaculture, Fisheries, Marine sciences, and other development-related subjects.
- Candidates with 1 year or more experience in relevant activities will be given preference and fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Candidates with experience in research/survey work, private sector, community discussion, and data collection, organize training /meeting/ workshop/ seminar, writing meeting minutes, reports in Aquaculture/ fisheries or related areas will be preferred.
- Ability and willingness to travel in remote areas with locally available transportation.
- Willing and able to travel by motorcycle with a valid driving license.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Computer literacy in standard MS Office programs, data analysis, prepare presentations.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Ability to both in work, assist team and management field.
- Committed and motivated.
