UNICEF is looking for WASH Consultant 2021 in Homna/Tarabo Pourashava
Overview:
GoB–UNICEF WASH Project component has started working in Homna and Tarabo Pourashava since January 2021 to complement the Bangladesh Municipal Water Supply and Sanitation project funded by Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and World Bank (WB). The AIIB/WB loans are being utilized to increase coverage and enhance quality of water supply through piped water service.
Work Assignment Overview:
- Analyze the challenges of achieving universal coverage by improved toilets and hand hygiene and prepare an implementation plan with the Pourashava to achieve the targets.
- Prepare decentralized WASH plan for each ward and get it implemented locally by the ward councilors and other stakeholders.
- Use the baseline report and Shit Flow Diagram (SFD) as an advocacy tools, analyze the Pourashava budget and assist the Pourashava to get increased resource allocation for WASH services.
- Sharing progress with challenges to the stakeholders particularly Pourashava Mayor, Councilors, Civil Society Organizations, Sanitary Product manufacturers and get their commitments / effective roles for achievement 100% sanitation coverage through dialogue/meeting/workshop.

Eligibilities
Minimum Qualifications/Knowledge/Expertise/Skills Required
- A university degree (Bachelor) in Social Science or Public Health Engineering, Civil Engineering (Water resources/ Environmental sanitation) Business Administration or a field relevant to WASH related development assistance.
- A minimum of 2 years’ of relevant work experience in development field, preferably in the water and sanitation sector (UN or development agency, donor, government regulatory body, academic institution or the private sector);
- Extensive experience in organizing and facilitating meetings/workshops/seminars.
- Familiarization with the policy environment of Bangladesh, the challenges within the WASH sector and the capacities of various stakeholders, would be considered an asset.
- Good interpersonal, leadership and management skills in implementing multi-party development projects.
- Well conversant with the development programme aspects of water supply and sanitation.
- Working experience with donors funded Government projects/organization/international NGOs
- Good written and spoken English.
- Computer skills especially in word processing, spreadsheet and PowerPoint presentation is preferred
