Laudes Foundation is hiring Head of Labour Rights 2022 in Dhaka.

Key responsibilities

  • Vision. Developing a vision for how to inspire and challenge industry to be a force for good in promoting labour standards, their enforcement and implementation, aligning with the broader vision of the foundation.
  • Strategy. Refine and implement the strategic plan for the Labour Rights programme, deepening grant making and learning in the programme’s priority intervention areas, working closely with the Director of Industry Transformation.
  • Programme Development. Oversee the team and play an active role in sourcing and identifying potential grant partners working to promote and support labour rights. Act as a subject matter expert to ensure that the Labour Rights team is designing partnerships that form a grant portfolio of mutually reinforcing and complementary grants that achieve the programme’s five-year goals towards systems change.
  • Programme Delivery. Oversee the team that is implementing grants, working with them to effectively deliver the programme strategy, including maintaining programme credibility, and capturing and disseminating learning to improve programme impact.
  • Collaboration. Working as a leader of the Foundation to build a culture of collaboration, including close relationships with other Heads to drive an integrated systems change approach.
  • Representation. Act as an ambassador and thought leader internally and externally to build the credibility and leadership of the foundation in the field of labour rights with a range of stakeholders, including through social media and other communications outlets.
  • Advocacy. Serve as a key amplifier and connector for the work of our partners in advocacy arenas, including through leveraging Laudes’ convening power in various fora.
  • Results. Achieve programme targets, as contained in the strategy objectives, and oversee monitoring and reporting of results in the required formats, in partnership with Effective Philanthropy.
  • Financial management. Manage the annual budget (both programmatic and administrative) of the Labour Rights programme, reporting results to the Director of Industry Transformation.
  • People management. Inspire, lead and support the Labour Rights team to deliver on their individual and team objectives and the overall success of the programme as a whole. Team members are based in Bangladesh, India, Hong Kong, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

Eligibilities

What You Need To Have:

  • Vision and creative “out of the box” thinking to challenge the status quo.
  • Experience in grant making, management of grant making budgets and the ability to use grant information to enhance programmatic and operational decision-making and learning;
  • Deep expertise and understanding of challenges and opportunities to transform labour rights, with relevant technical experience, particularly in relation to Gender, Equity and Social Inclusion;
  • External credibility as a leader and strong networks in the labour rights area;
  • Experience in a manufacturing based economic markets, including ability to understand the stakeholders and their concerns in such a context;
  • Proactive leader who brings creativity, practicality and open-minded approach to all challenges;
  • A strategic thinker with the gravitas to influence individuals from all levels across the foundation to drive results;
  • Empathetic and motivational manager of people;
  • Language: Fluency in English written and oral communication skills.
