The Canadian High Commission in Dhaka seeks a self-reliant, motivated and reliable team player for an Administrative Assistant position (LE-05) 2021 in Dhaka.

Type of employment: Anticipatory – Term position (1 year with possible extension to permanent position)
Hours of work: 37.5 hours/week

The Administrative Assistant (LE-05) provides daily administrative support and services to the Political Counsellor or/and the Head of Aid; provides and creates information and/or documentation; provides support for ongoing program activities; responds to service requests from clients and performs other duties as required.

Supports mission’s programs on all aspects of logistics related to Ministerial and VIP visits.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Political advisor.  Comprehensive knowledge of office routines, procedures prioritizing of multiple demands, projects and tasks; provides services to internal and external clients; researches and compiles data and maintains databases; manages events and logistics. The incumbent’s actions impact on program operations and the image of the High Commission and therefor must be professional.

Selection procedure (please read)

    • A verification of education diplomas and degrees may be conducted.

Eligibilities

Candidates must demonstrate how they meet the mandatory qualifications in the application form with specific examples.

Education: Bachelors’ degree from a government recognized university.

Languages: Fluent in English (comprehension, written, spoken) and advanced knowledge of Bangla (comprehension, written, and spoken)

Experience:       

  • Minimum two years recent* working experience providing logistic, travel arrangements and administrative support in an office environment
  • Minimum two years recent* working experience in customer service

* Recent experience is defined as normally acquired within the last three (3) years.

Computer Skills:

  • Ability to accurately prepare charts tables or plans in word, PowerPoint or Excel.
  • Ability to use outlook email software to send messages and schedule meetings, as well as manage the calendars of others.
  • Ability to organize and participate in video conferencing meetings using software such as MS Teams, WhatsApp, Zoom and Webex.

Asset Qualifications

Preference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:

  • University degree in Business Studies, Public Administration or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of working experience providing administrative support in an office environment
  • Significant experience in a similar role in a diplomatic mission or an international organization
  • Experience in customer service
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • French language skills

Operational Requirements

  • Occasional overtime may be required – evenings, weekends if necessary – sometimes on short notice.
