Goethe-Institut Bangladesh is looking for Construction Coordinator 2020 in Dhaka
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Relocation to temporary premises
Organisation and execution of the entire relocation process including: -
- tender of moving companies
- temporary storage solutions
- coordination of interior works, on-site checks, commissioning and relocation
- time- and cost control as well as checking of invoices and preparation of payments
- Remodelling of existing premises
Coordination of all aspects associated with planning and construction, working closely with external architects, consultants as well as headquarters in Germany: -
- coordination of all relevant issues on the part of the Goethe-Institut as well as decisions on functional aspects (e.g. placement of electrical outlets, furniture, etc.)
- sampling process (e.g. floor finishes, lighting, fittings and fixtures, etc.)
- communication with local authorities and preparation of documents for obtaining required permits
- coordination of pilot projects for a new spatial concept and a new library
- liaison with various stakeholders, including contractors, neighbours, legal advisors
- site visits during construction
- arranging visits of German planning partners to Bangladesh (visas, accommodation, etc.)
- time- and cost control as well as checking of invoices and preparation of payments
- organisation of events, e.g. ground-breaking ceremony, opening event, etc.

- The Construction Coordinator is a full-time position with official duty of 40 hours per week.
Eligibilities
Education:
- Bsc. in architecture; higher degree preferred
Experience:
- At least 5 years of professional experience in handling similar construction projects
Skills and Competencies
- Excellent communicator, very good spoken and written English; German would be an asset
- Confidence liaising with various stakeholder (contractors, consultants, authorities, etc.)
- Strong organisational skills, hands-on and problem-solving attitude
- Sense of planning and urgency, multi-tasking, prioritization and responsibility
- Knowledge of relevant software (e.g. Microsoft Office, project planning tools)
