BRAC is looking for Environmental, Social and Climate Resilient Expert 2024 in Dhaka.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and implement Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) specific to Village Level Training Centers (VLTCs), ensuring adherence to environmental and social standards.
  • Develop and apply climate-proofing strategies for VLTCs by creating and enforcing protocols that incorporate climate resilience into facility planning and construction.
  • Ensure the use of climate-friendly materials and equipment in VLTCs, promoting sustainable practices and reducing environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with the curriculum development unit to integrate climate adaptive technologies into training materials for various trades, ensuring relevance and effectiveness.
  • Develop and disseminate training materials focused on climate change risks and resilience, targeting students, instructors, and community members to enhance awareness and skills.
  • Incorporate climate resilience into Social, Emotional, and Behavioral (SEB) skills and Enterprise Development Training (EDT) by addressing the impacts of climate change and promoting sustainable business practices.
  • Facilitate training on climate resilience in business and employment, equipping stakeholders with knowledge and skills to adapt to climate-related challenges.
  • Create guidelines for climate-resilient production modalities, providing clear protocols for sustainable and adaptive practices in the promotion of green skill-building
  • Monitor and review national and international advancements in climate change science, adaptation, and resilience, ensuring the integration of the latest innovations into project practices in alignment with national plans such as Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, National Adaptation Plan (NAP), Bangladesh Prosperity Plans, etc.
  • Oversee environmental compliance through regular site visits, report reviews, and collaboration with third-party assessments to ensure project activities meet environmental standards.

Eligibilities

Job Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Climate Change, Geography, Development studies, Social Science or any other relevant subject from any reputed university
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in environmental, social, and climate resilience roles within international NGOs or relevant development agencies, demonstrating a proven track record in these areas.
  • Expertise in Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), including preparing site-specific Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs) for VLTCs, and integrating safeguards into project development.
  • Proven ability to monitor and evaluate the implementation of environmental and social mitigation measures, prepare detailed reports on safeguard risks, and ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to effectively address complex or sensitive issues with stakeholders at all levels, and to lead spot checks and ensure compliance with safeguards policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of climate change risks and policies, including global, regional, and national strategies, and the ability to develop and implement climate resilience strategies and adaptations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and proficiency in preparing comprehensive reports, with the ability to prioritize tasks, multitask, and work independently under tight deadlines.
