iDEA presents BIG: BANGABANDHU INNOVATION GRANT 2020.
BIG is a platform for the future entrepreneurs and aspiring young minds of the country to motivate, recognize and share their innovations in a national and international level for the brighter future of Bangladesh. Young minds such as students, young professionals will be able to share their innovation and ideas in the field of information and technology. 36 startups will be selected through the competition.
BIG is an initiative under iDEA project that aims to build a Startup Ecosystem in the country and plans to provide a grant to 100 Startups to encourage new innovative ideas from Young Entrepreneurs. The iDEA project, from March 16, 2020 to November 2020 has approved grants of Tk.10 lakh to each of the 32 startups through the project selection committee. They aim to cross borders and reach the International ICT Community alongside Local Startups. Foreign startups will be able to participate through an international roadshow. Through “BIG” young entrepreneurs i.e. new innovative ideas of startups will be encouraged to build a startup ecosystem in the country and establish this event as a flagship program at the international level.
There will be 3 main focus in 2020 and 2021 for BIG including – University and Stakeholder Activation Campaign, a TV reality show and an international roadshow. Bangladesh’s Public-private educational institutions, inventors, professionals, startups institutions, High-commissions and embassies of different countries along with startups from hundreds of different local and foreign communities and clubs and trade associations delegates will be taking part in this event. This initiative will be organized by the Innovation Design and Entrepreneurship Academy (iDEA) project along with Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC), Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority, Controller of Certifying Authorities (CCA), A2I, Startup Bangladesh Limited who have been added as an event partner. As private partners, we will also have different trades associations including BASIS, BACCO, BCS, ECAB, ISPAB and BIJF.
Last but not least, through this event Bangladesh will be re-presented as a prosperous and aspiring country in the world stage of ICT.

- Top 1(one) Startup will get 1,00,000 USD and 35(Thirty-Five) startups will get 10,00,000 BDT (each) grant from BIG.
Eligibilities
National Category
- Anyone who is a Bangladeshi Citizen will be able to apply in the national category.
- Bangladeshi Citizens who are residing in foreign country but are not a citizen of that country will be able to apply in the national category.
- Anyone who either has a startup idea or has a business that is still in the Startup stage will be able to compete in the national category.
- This category will accommodate both student and non-student participants.
International Category
- Anyone who has a foreign passport will be able to apply in the international category.
- Anyone who either has a Startup idea or has a business that is still in the Startup stage will be able to compete in the national category.
- This category will accommodate both student and Non student participants.
Terms and Conditions:
- Any Bangladeshi or foreign startup can apply for the grant subject to the following conditions for their invented product or service;
- The applicant must be a startup or entrepreneur;
- The proposed product or service must be ICT based;
- The invented product or service must be at the prototype level or above;
- The product or service must be innovative;
- The product or service must have a positive impact on social change, economic development and the environment;
- Must be a legally established entity;

- In addition to filling out the form provided online, the additional documents must be submitted which are asked along with necessary audio visuals;
