World Bank Group is looking for Senior Water Specialist 2025 in Dhaka.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Program Leadership & Implementation
- Lead implementation of the WRG Bangladesh Country Program in line with the WRG Strategic and Operational Plans.
- Drive the Accelerator Program in Bangladesh, focused on industrial and municipal pollution management, and structure Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and facilitate Private Capital Mobilization (PCM) in collaboration with WB, IFC, and MIGA.
- Support program expansion within the region, identifying new country and thematic opportunities while continuing support to ongoing efforts in Bangladesh.
2. World Bank Water Engagement
- Participate as a core member of the World Bank Water Team in Bangladesh, contributing to lending operations and Analytics and Advisory (ASA) Work (up to 40% of work program).
- Collaborate on advancing water-related projects, including the upcoming Dhaka Water Security Program.
3. Analytical Products & Technical Assessments
- Lead or coordinate the development of analytical products and technical assessments aligned with program needs.
- Ensure all deliverables undergo rigorous quality assurance in compliance with World Bank standards and procedures.
4. Partnership Development & Fundraising
- Identify and onboard regional and local funding partners to support long-term program sustainability.
- Manage budgets effectively and contribute to the financial viability of both country-specific and regional WRG programs.
5. Internal and External Coordination
- Engage in regional and global coordination meetings, including participation in Water Global Practice Groups, Country Management Unit (CMU) sessions, and other relevant Bank group forums.
- Ensure alignment and integration of WRG efforts with broader World Bank Group (WBG) initiatives and strategies.
6. Stakeholder Engagement
- Foster strong relationships with government agencies, private sector leaders, and civil society organizations to strengthen WRG’s country-level presence and impact.
- Collaborate with the WRG Communications Team to enhance WRG visibility and contribute to thought leadership globally, regionally, and nationally through strategic communications and events.
7. Cross-Sectoral Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with World Bank, IFC, and MIGA to maintain strategic coherence and maximize synergies.
- Represent WRG at high-level forums, investor conferences, and relevant multistakeholder engagements.

Eligibilities
Job Requirements:
Educational Qualifications
- Master’s degree in a Water-related discipline, such as Environment, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Business Strategy, or Business Administration.
Professional Experience
- Minimum 8 years of experience at regional and country levels in program management, business development, public-private partnerships, or environmental/water issues, particularly with private sector-driven solutions.
- Proven ability to lead transformational regional and national programs, including large-scale PPP initiatives in water, sanitation, environmental, or sustainability sectors.
- Experience working with World Bank Group (or equivalent institutions) and familiarity with WRG partners in Bangladesh is highly desirable.
Technical Competencies
- Strong understanding of technical and policy issues in the water sector and the political economy influencing reform agendas.
- Demonstrated knowledge of water, climate, and environment agendas, with strong professional networks across government, private sector, and civil society in Bangladesh.
Communication & Collaboration Skills
- Outstanding verbal and written communication skills in English; Bengali proficiency is an advantage.
- Proven ability to collaborate across teams, provide constructive input, and work with diverse stakeholders including:
- Senior business leaders
- High-level government officials (e.g., Ministers, Principal Secretaries)
- NGOs, grassroots groups, and academic institutions
