Job Responsibilities:
Business
- Developing leaf ESG/sustainability initiatives and strategies, ensuring alignment with the business’s wider strategies and goals.
- Owning and managing the implementation of targeted ESG initiatives set out in the annual ESG Action Plan/set in the glide-paths in alignment with global leaf ESG commitment & end-market priorities.
- Monitoring and reporting on the implementation of the ESG Action Plan (focus on climate change, natural resources management, water use reduction, waste management, wood traceability & sustainability, carbon emission reduction/offset, positive impact on forest, aim for zero child & forced labor by 2025, human rights of farm workers, farmers’ livelihood, women empowerment through capability enhancement, youth development etc.).
- Supporting the development of the de-carbonization plans, including reduction/offset target setting.
- Reviewing and analyzing activities and providing recommendations related to enhancing the ESG/sustainability strategy, methods, framework, and related tools.
- Creating policies, guidelines, SOPs, for the ESG related initiatives to facilitate smooth execution throughout the tobacco growing areas.
- Acting as subject matter specialist on environmental & social sustainability frameworks, standards, reporting and disclosures.
- Guiding ESG deployment executive/officers/leaf officers/assistant leaf officers/area leaf managers/regional leaf managers on the practical application of sustainability frameworks, standards, and execution of the initiatives.
- Arranging internal & external verification & validation of the ESG execution results.
- Lead in the development of a successful/effective ESG communication strategy – internally and externally
- Lead in the planning and execution of leaf ESG roadshow (STP self-assessment, Thrive) events on a scheduled and regular basis.
- Ensure control & compliances while ensuring execution of ESG program & initiatives.
- Take lead to organize monthly & quarterly drumbeat to share progress on the ESG initiatives with relevant stakeholders of end market, regional & global leaf ESG forum.
People
- Identify opportunities in participating in relevant ESG events, conferences, webinars, dialogues, external industry talks – for potential speaker slots.
- Organize and establish scheduled/regular engagement sessions, social/community investment programs and initiatives for the purpose of establishing deeper awareness/understanding of ESG and how it relates to business
- Develop and manage effective stakeholder engagement process – in ensuring regular and scheduled approach in engaging stakeholders (internal & external) for the purposes of informing, developing relationship, reinforcing trust, and attaining constructive feedback.
- Lead in the conceptualization, development, and management of appropriate ESG capability development/training programs.
- Develop approach to ensure regular/scheduled ESG info sharing/updates with relevant internal & external platforms.
- Identify relevant and strategic partnership/thought leadership affiliations opportunities with relevant organization working on ESG arena (e.g., UNGC; SBTi; RE100; NGOs etc.)
- Establish and strengthen good relationships with local and international conservation organizations, research bodies, tobacco companies, agricultural institutions, to keep abreast on contemporary technologies and knowledge on ESG.
- Develop peoples’ competency and skill set on ESG KPIs & new knowledge for leaf operations’ priority

Eligibilities
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in natural science (agriculture, forestry, agroforestry, botany, environmental science, disaster management, climate change etc.), sustainability, ESG or other related disciplines
- Minimum 2-3 years exposure to Sustainability/ESG Management, preferably with proficiency in ESG reporting/disclosure.
- Familiarity and application of the local and international regulations, standards, frameworks, and guidelines such as GRI, ISSB, TCFD, CDP, SDG’s, IIRC etc.
- Showcase strong ability to anticipate trends/developments and take a proactive approach in ensuring appropriate measurements are in place.
- Established experience as a proficient coordinator, communicator, and project delivery/management, specific to ESG reports/disclosure; ESG communications; stakeholder engagement; establishing cross-functional/operational platforms
- Knowledge and experience in global environmental standards and frameworks: such as UN Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs), Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB), Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) and others
- Experience designing or redesigning an ESG program
- Flexible to mobility for role requirement when needed for meetings and site visits
- Strong process improvement experience, problem-solving skills, good presentation skills, effective communication/presentation skills, strong collaborator, networking, and relationship management skills.
- Strong analytical skills (qualitative and quantitative aspects) and ability to communicate effectively
