CARE is hiring Livelihoods and Market System Advisor, HICRA, Bangladesh 2023 in Cox’s Bazar

Job Responsibilities:

  •  Lead the design and implementation of livelihoods and market system technical approaches, strategies, and guidelines. Spearhead strategic approaches and quality processes related to these technical specializations. Advise on value chain methodologies including the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach and ensure their integration at all project levels and intervention areas.
  • Capacity Building : Organize and lead capacity-building initiatives for project staff, NGO and private sector partners and other stakeholders as per identified needs. Facilitate skills development training of local service providers, lead farmers, and relevant market actors, so that producers’ groups can access and utilize improved business and technical services.
  •   Liaise and link with service provider and other key stakeholders : Identify potential service providers and market actors; identify and facilitate opportunities for collaboration. Communicate and negotiate with the market actors in value chains at national and regional markets; jointly develop MOUs and operational guidelines for project activities
  • Monitoring and Result Measurement (MRM) and knowledge management : Collaborate with MEL Director and project teams to develop, revise and manage M&E indicators, guides and activities related to the livelihoods and market systems subsectors. Ensure regular monitoring of livelihood and market system development activities against existing work plans to ensure effective and efficient implementation; assess technical program quality with the team, identify areas for improvement, and elaborate corrective action plans as needed.  Support development of output and outcome level indicators, tools, and guidelines for M&E of value chains.  Support development of impact logic of value chain interventions and tools/ guidelines.
  • Write, revise and disseminate : Periodic progress reports, case studies, lesson learned documents, and other technical project communications materials.

Eligibilities

  •  Advanced degree in Business, Economics, Livelihoods, Agriculture, International Development, or other relevant degrees. Additional years of experience may be substituted for an advanced degree.
  •  Minimum of 7 years of experience in the field of livelihoods, value chain development, and market system development, agricultural production, income & livelihoods diversification, household access to finance, and resilience strengthening    including professional training on value chain and market system development.
  •       Strong demonstrated understanding and application of M4P.
  •      Experience developing linkages with private and public sector institutions and building microenterprise networks.
  •      Experience designing training curricula and leading capacity building in these technical areas.
  •      Experience with M&E vis-à-vis supply and value chain programming. Analytical and report writing skills required.
  •      Previous experience with the culture and context of South Asia/Bangladesh is strongly preferred.
  •      Demonstrated commitment to principles of Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, as evidenced in previous management positions and programming. Demonstrated commitment to PSHEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation, Harassment, and Abuse).
  •      Excellent oral and written communication skills in English; excellent demonstrated interpersonal and negotiation skills.
