A standout feature of the program is a fully-funded, six-day study tour to Hiroshima and Nagasaki scheduled for the second quarter of 2026. This immersive experience offers a unique opportunity to connect with hibakusha—the survivors of the atomic bombings—whose firsthand stories bring home the profound human cost of nuclear conflict. By meeting these survivors and engaging in educational activities in the very cities that bear the scars of history, participants will gain a deep, personal understanding of the imperative to eliminate nuclear weapons.

Beyond the technical and historical education, the YLF places a strong emphasis on the art of communication and storytelling. Recognizing that effective advocacy relies on the power of a well-told story, the program integrates media and communications training into its curriculum. This empowers participants to articulate complex disarmament issues clearly and compellingly, making their voices heard on local, national, and global platforms.
Moreover, the program is designed to foster a vibrant, supportive network of future leaders from diverse backgrounds. This community not only enriches the learning experience through the exchange of ideas and perspectives but also provides ongoing mentorship and support long after the program concludes. Participants will emerge not only as knowledgeable advocates but also as connected, confident leaders ready to drive real change.
Ultimately, the Youth Leader Fund is more than an educational initiative—it’s a movement to empower the next generation of global citizens to champion nuclear disarmament and secure a safer, more sustainable world.
