The UCL Global Master’s Scholarship aims to enable and encourage international students from lower-income backgrounds to pursue full-time Master’s degree studies at UCL. The funded scholarship in London aims at bringing talented and academically excellent students to University College London by facilitating the finances to cover the maximum cost of study, which would be a financial burden otherwise. This scholarship is a chance for students to learn from top-class institutions in the world. The UCL Global Masters Scholarship is open to all disciplines offered at University College London. Popular areas of study include:
- Engineering and Technology: Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Artificial Intelligence.

Value, benefits, and duration
- There are up to 85 (eighty-five) scholarships available in 2025/256, with five aimed specifically at students from India.
- The value of the bursary is £15,000.
- The scholarship is tenable for one year only unless the full-time program is 2yrs in length. In that case, the scholarship will be paid 50% of each year.
- The UCL Global Masters Scholarship may be held alongside other scholarships, studentships, awards, or bursaries depending on the total value of other funds received by the student.
- Scholarship recipients are obliged to inform the UCL Student Funding Office immediately of any other funding they are awarded towards their UCL Master’s degree studies, before or after the UCL Global Masters Scholarship is awarded.
- The scholarship will first be applied to the recipient’s tuition fees, with any remainder payable to the recipient in three equal installments throughout the academic year, towards maintenance.

- The remaining amount is paid in three equal installments for maintenance throughout the year.

Eligibilities
Candidates can be from any country outside the UK but must fulfill all of the following criteria:
- Must be eligible to pay the Overseas fee rate.
- Must come from a lower-income background.
- Must have submitted a complete admission application for a full-time Master’s degree at UCL in 2025/26 (including references).
- Distance learning programs are not eligible.
- Students must be attending UCL in person in the UK.
- Demonstrate academic excellence and leadership potential.
- Meet UCL’s English language proficiency requirements.
The scholarship is awarded based on financial need and upon the recommendation of the Student Funding Office.

Application Process
- The student has to apply for admission to get the scholarship. There is no compulsion that one must receive the offer letter. Only an admission application is enough for the initiation of the process.
- The student has to log in to Portico and has to provide normal details.
- You have to click on the ‘View’ button for the ‘Active Application’ that you wish to apply funding for.
- The student has to select the funding option in the application form.
- Once you have access to the funding page you have to find out which funds you are eligible to apply for and click ‘Check and apply’ under ‘Funds Available.
- Click on the scholarship name of the scheme that you wish to apply for.
Shortlisted candidates will be contacted mid June to provide evidence of financial need. When this has been assessed, successful candidates will be informed at the beginning of July.
