The African Development Bank-Japan Africa Dream Scholarship (JSDF) program offers a prestigious opportunity for African students to advance their education through postgraduate studies. Funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the African Development Bank, this scholarship aims to support talented individuals from African countries in pursuing master’s degrees at leading global institutions. The program is designed to enhance the academic and professional capacities of its recipients, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute meaningfully to the development of their home countries.

Get the Youth Opportunities iOS App here for the fully-funded opportunities.

The JSDF scholarship covers full tuition fees, living expenses, round-trip airfare, and other associated costs, ensuring that recipients can focus solely on their studies without financial burden. Eligible candidates must be citizens of an African country and hold a bachelor’s degree with a strong academic record. Preference is often given to those with relevant work experience or a clear commitment to development work. The selection process is competitive and considers academic excellence, leadership potential, and the alignment of the chosen field of study with the development needs of the applicant’s home country.

Candidates must complete the scholarship application form and provide supporting documents, including academic transcripts, proof of work experience, letters of recommendation, and a statement of purpose. The scholarship not only facilitates academic growth but also fosters international collaboration, thereby strengthening the capacity of African nations to address critical development challenges.
