• Full Scholarship

Beit Trust Scholarships are for Postgraduate degrees only. They do not provide scholarships for undergraduate work and their postgraduate focus is on Masters’s Degrees. They do not offer scholarships for Ph.D. research ab initio. Only under exceptional circumstances, and for Beit scholars of outstanding merit, will the Trustees consider extending support to the Ph.D. level.

The next round of Beit Scholarships to be awarded is for the academic year beginning September 2023 for universities in the UK; and January 2024 for universities in South Africa. The Trust will only consider applicants who are both eligible and qualified to apply.

The Trust provides Postgraduate Scholarships for relevant courses at universities in the United Kingdom or South Africa. Candidates must be nationals of and domiciled in Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi and aged under 30, or 35 in the case of medical doctors.

Beit Scholars are special and have a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with one another. Once a Beit Scholar, always a Beit Scholar. The Beit Scholarship Association (BSA) brings together present and former recipients of a Beit Scholarship.

The Beit Trust is an independent charity. They support people and communities in Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Malawi (ZZM). They have been active for over a hundred years, ever since the Trust was established by the financier and philanthropist, Alfred Beit, in 1906. Since the 1950s, they have funded regional projects in health, education, transport, social welfare, and conservation.

The Trust now provides more than £2.5 million a year in grants to the region. In the last five years alone, they have funded hundreds of projects, including hospitals, clinics, care homes, schools, and libraries. They have supported over a hundred Beit Scholars at universities in the UK and South Africa, as well as regional training for surgeons from ZZM. The Trust remains apolitical and operates without consideration of sex, race, and religion.
