The University of Copenhagen (UCPH) offers a limited number of tuition waivers and grants through the Danish Government Scholarship program. The scholarships are competitive and offered to highly talented students from non-EU/EEU countries with outstanding academic records. All non-EU/EEA applicants offered admission will automatically be considered for the scholarship.
The Danish Government Scholarship is granted either as full or partial tuition fee waivers and/or as an amount that covers basic living costs.

Eligibilities
To be eligible for a scholarship, you must be:
a citizen of a country outside the EU, EEA (the European Economic Area), or Switzerland
admitted to a master’s degree program at the University of Copenhagen
granted a time-limited residence permit to study a higher education program in Denmark.
You are not eligible for a Danish Government Scholarship if you:
have a legal claim to the rights of Danish citizens
are eligible for a grant by Danish law regarding the State Educational Grant and Loan Scheme (SU)
have been granted a residence permit at the time of admission by the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9c, subsection 1, as the child of a foreign citizen who has been granted a residence permit by the Danish Aliens Consolidations Act §9m, and who is a citizen of a country that is not acceded to the EU or covered by the EEA agreement.

Application Process
- If you are a citizen from outside the EU/EEA or Switzerland, as of October 2017 you are required to pay an application fee of DKK 750 (app. EUR 100) when applying for one or more master’s degree programs in the same application round. You will only have to pay the application fee once each application round regardless of whether you choose to apply for one, two, or the maximum of three Master’s degree programs per application round.
- You can apply for a Fulbright grant to Denmark before you have been accepted to a Danish university
- Studies/research in Denmark needs to be on graduate level
- You need a strong letter of affiliation from the Danish host institution (Master’s and PhD sample letter)
- As a Fulbright student you do not pay tuition during your Fulbright year
- Recent graduates and graduating seniors must attend Master’s-level classes at the Danish institution
